dance and performance

performer, creator and teacher for over 40 years.

From 1972 I have worked with an incredibly creative, talented and diverse group of people.

My first experience of dance was with a local ballet teacher in the 1960's and I performed throughout my teens, taking classes at The Place and with Rambert at the Mercury Theatre.

After graduating in 1980, alongside performing with a number of newly formed dance companies and independent artists, I developed my own work and formed my own performance Companies.

performing

Throughout my years as a performer I have had the pleasure to work with many great performers and choreographers.

These include Siobhan Davies, Motionhouse, DV8 and Rosemary Butcher

teaching

Over the years I have taught to a wide range of abilities. While most of my work has been at professional and vocational level I have also taught to non vocational and enthusiastic participants.

I am primarily interested in developing the individual’s approach to physical learning so as to unlock potential within oneself whilst maintaining the enjoyment of movement.

In 1996 I moved to Bristol where I made contact with Bim Mason of Circomedia, one of the first circus schools in the UK.

He invited me along to teach some movement and physical theatre workshops to the students. This two week intensive would lead on to over a decade of involvement with what is now seen as  contemporary circus.
